Day 1 after arrival in Kyoto

Ok we made it to Japan and all the way to Kyoto. We have checked into our hotel and now we are hungry. So we decide to walk around by our hotel. There are a few things around including a Starbucks. That's right that coffee icon in the US is here as well and so is Circle K. We end up wandering into a little place that looked as if the food was edible. We sat down and proceeded to ask for menus when the guy behind the counter pointed behind us and said in Japanese to tell us that we had to order from the vending machine behind us. We we a little confused at first. There was pictures of food on it with the amount of yen each item costs. But there were no explanations what was in the food. We are vegetarians!!! I will not eat anything without knowing what it is first. After trying to explain to the guy behind the counter that we still need help he found us a menu that had english descriptions under the items. We then made our choices and purchased them from the machine. Then we handed them to the guy and sat down. Five minutes later our food was ready. Yes, our food was quite good. After eating we headed to bed.
