Day 5 Visiting Architecture and Harijuku

Today Anthony & I accompanied our new friend Joan to look at some architecture. She brought us to look at some amazing buildings in the posh district near Harajuku. The buildings held brands like Gucci, Prada, Miu Miu and Coach. It was amazing. Then we headed into Harajuku which is known for crazy funky club kids. We saw some great clothing stores. Most of them had american brands though and they were quite expensive. So we will not be needing another suitcase for purchases.

We wandered into a little mall and saw the most beautiful christmas decorations with crystal chandeliers and a disco ball. Check it out.

We then went looking for a place to eat. Anthony and I having been finding it a little hard to find vegetarian food here. It is actually quite funny how restaurnts market their menus. Many of them have plastic food in a window (they look gross). Other times you will find these sorta fast food places that you have to purchase your food from a vending machine. Basically the way it works is the machine has pictures of the food on it, you choose what you want, insert your mony and then a ticket prints. You the give your ticket to the man behind the counter. Within 5 minutes you have your food. What they do have is American fast food. We have seen McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King, Starbucks, Mister Donut, KFC, Subway, Big Boy's and Denny's. Other American stores we have seen are 7 Eleven (they are everywhere), Circle K, FedEx Kinko's and Office Depot.

Another weird thing here for us is that they allow smoking everywhere. Pretty much everywhere we have gone to eat people are smoking. As non-smokers we haven't enjoyed that.

You will notice the pictures of the H&M store at the end. It is the first one here in Japan so everyone was excited to go. They was a huge line outside being controlled by the police.
